At the end of the day, this building is about how we want to build in the future and it’s about connection.”
Sporting a Green Look: Engineering the headquarters for Brooks Running in Fremont
DCI Engineers provided the structural engineering design for this 225,000-sf green building located in the Seattle neighborhood of Fremont. Guidance of design was under Seattle’s Deep Green Pilot program which requires buildings to cut down their energy and water use by requiring structural elements to have the ability to capture and reuse at least 50% of the onsite storm water among other Living Building Challenge requirements. Stone34 will feature a 76,000-gallon container on the roof which catches rainwater that is reused throughout the building. Stone34 was designed to efficiently heat and cool the building using hydronic plates and chill beams. The building encourages commuters to use bicycles by providing racks as well as showers and changing rooms.
